I think we speak for most when we say we’re so happy for spring!
The new season has many ready to get outside, open the windows, and clean out the closets. It’s also a great time to give your house a good inspection to see what needs a bit of maintenance after the long winter months.
Not sure where to start? Well, we’ve compiled a good list to get you started.
Clean Gutters
Clean out your gutters now before any big rainstorms hit. When gutters get clogged, it can lead water to seep into your roof or into your walls.
Check Downspouts
Be sure to also check that your downspouts are attached and are pointed at away from your home. Otherwise, water can pool around your foundation, causing leaks or even flooding in your basement.
Inspect Your Concrete
Walk around your house and inspect your concrete, making sure that the plowing, salt, or freeze/thaw cycles haven’t damaged it. Cracks can create tripping hazards or just be plain unsightly.
Take Care of Your Lawnmower
Time to bring the lawnmower out of storage! Lawnmowers get a lot of use of the years, but not a lot of love. You may want to sharpen the blades, change the spark plug, or give it a good clean.
Examine Your Siding
Siding can take a hit during wintertime, and just over the years. Check your siding for any missing pieces or soft spots, particularly under windows or by trim. Let Houston Services know if you need siding repairs!
Replace Storm Windows with Screens
We weren’t kidding about opening up your windows! Let the fresh air in and your home breathe, without all the bugs. Switch out those storm windows till this fall.
Freshen Up Your Deck
Spruce up your desk with a power wash and a new coat of stain. You can also give it a coat of water repellent so that it lasts longer.
Pick Up Your Yard
Remove leaves, fallen branches, dead plants, and other debris so that your grass can grow green and healthy this spring.
Clean Off Outdoor Furniture
Get rid of the grit and grime that winter left and clean your outdoor furniture. Wipe down surfaces, wash pillows, or look into getting new cushions. Either way, start prepping for more outside time.
